The headline change

Amendment 4, precisely where it matters.

BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 reaches into the certificate itself — not a compliance footnote, but the fields you complete on every job. iCertifi 12.12.50 aligns the forms, the schedules and the Circuit Designer to the new standard.

PNB earthing arrangement

Protective Neutral Bonding is recognised in BS 7671 for the first time under Amendment 4. iCertifi adds PNB as a first-class option on the earthing arrangement field, so supplies that were previously awkward to record are now documented cleanly and correctly.

What is PNB? Protective Neutral Bonding is an earthing arrangement — related to, but distinct from, TN-C-S — where the neutral and protective functions are combined at a single point local to the installation, typically a private transformer or supply. A4:2026 formally recognises it, and iCertifi records it on the certificate.

EICR schedules, updated

Inspection schedules for the Electrical Installation Condition Report are revised to A4. The items you tick, and the way they're grouped, match the amended standard on the day it applies.

Revised observations layout

The observations section gains additional fields and a revised layout, giving you room to record what A4 now asks for without cramming it into notes.

Circuit Designer aligned to A4

The built-in Circuit Designer follows the amended requirements, so design and certification stay in step across the whole job.

The wider A4 context

Amendment 4 also revises requirements around stationary secondary batteries, functional earthing for ICT and Power over Ethernet, Section 710 medical locations and EV charging — the standard iCertifi certifies against.

Board Vision

Point it at a three-phase board. It reads the phases.

Board Vision now scans TP&N boards, with automatic L1/L2/L3 phase detection. A new full-screen review lets you check every way before anything is imported — and the phase information prints on certificates and exports.

01

Three-phase, automatically

Point the camera at a TP&N board and iCertifi detects which way sits on L1, L2 and L3 for you.

02

Full-screen review before import

Nothing lands in your certificate unchecked. Review the full board, correct anything, then import in one move.

03

Phases carry through to print

Phase allocation appears on the finished certificate and on every PDF export.

Issued PDF Archive

The version you issued is the version that's kept.

When you export a certificate, iCertifi stores that PDF as the issued version. Need to change something? Revise it with a full revision history, or issue a clean replacement — with archive control living in Settings, where you'd expect it.

01

Exports become the record

Every issued PDF is retained exactly as it went out — the definitive copy of what your client received.

02

Revise, with history

Make a revision and iCertifi keeps the trail, so you can always see what changed and when.

03

Or issue a replacement

Supersede an issued document cleanly. Archive behaviour is yours to control in Settings.

Questions, answered

Amendment 4 & iCertifi

What is Amendment 4?+
Amendment 4 is the fourth amendment to the 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations, published as BS 7671:2018+A4:2026. It updates the requirements electricians design and certify against — including a newly recognised PNB earthing arrangement, revised EICR inspection schedules and observations, and changes touching areas such as stationary secondary batteries, ICT and Power over Ethernet functional earthing, Section 710 medical locations and EV charging.
When does Amendment 4 come into effect?+
Amendment 4 was published on 15 April 2026 and can be applied to new work immediately. A six-month overlap follows, during which the previous version — BS 7671:2018+A2:2022+A3:2024 — remains in use. That previous version is withdrawn on 15 October 2026.
Does iCertifi support Amendment 4?+
Yes. iCertifi 12.12.50 brings full BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 support: the PNB earthing option on the certificate, updated EICR inspection schedules, a revised observations layout with additional fields, and the Circuit Designer aligned to A4. Update from the App Store to certify to the new standard.
What is PNB?+
PNB stands for Protective Neutral Bonding — an earthing arrangement recognised in BS 7671 for the first time under Amendment 4. iCertifi adds PNB as a selectable earthing arrangement on the certificate, so you can record these supplies correctly rather than approximating them.
Do I need to update?+
Yes — update iCertifi on all of your devices. Backups created with version 12.12.50 cannot be restored on older versions, so updating iPhone and iPad together keeps your data moving freely between them. Update on the App Store →
