What is Certificate Tracking?
Certificate Tracking gives your clients a web link where they can check the progress of their electrical certificate. They open the link in any browser – no app needed – and see the current status, certificate type, and when it was last updated.

Clients no longer need to chase you for updates. They check the link themselves and see exactly where their certificate is in the process.
What Clients See
When a client opens the tracking link, they see a clean status page showing:
- Certificate status – In Progress, Testing, Review Pending, Approved, or Sent to Client
- Certificate type – EICR, Minor Works, EIC, etc.
- Masked reference – only the last few characters shown for privacy
- Contractor name – your firm name
- Area – first half of the postcode only (e.g. SW1A)
- Visual progress bar – colour-coded to show how far along the certificate is
- Last updated – date and time of the most recent status change
Privacy by design. No client name, no full address, no test results are shown. Only enough information to confirm the certificate belongs to them.
How to Enable Tracking
Step 1: Open any certificate in iCertifi.
Step 2: Find the Client Tracking section and toggle it on.
Step 3: A unique tracking link is generated instantly. Tap Share to send it to your client via Messages, Email, WhatsApp or any other app.
Step 4: The tracking page updates automatically as you work on the certificate. No manual updates needed.
Pro Tip: You can enable tracking by default for all new certificates in Settings > Client Tracking.
How the Status Updates
The tracking status updates automatically based on what you do in iCertifi:
- In Progress – certificate has been created
- Testing – test results are being recorded
- Review Pending – submitted for QS review
- Approved – QS has approved the certificate
- Certificate Completed – PDF has been generated
- Sent to Client – certificate has been sent
Fully automatic. You do not need to manually update the tracking status. iCertifi detects each stage and updates the tracking page for you.
Stop Tracking
You can stop tracking for any certificate at any time. Toggle off Client Tracking and the tracking link immediately stops working. The web page will show “Certificate Not Found” and no data is exposed. The QR code is also removed from future PDF exports.
