iCertifi Big Update | V12.12.36

iCertifi Update: Circuit Designer, Paper Certificate Scan, and Major Improvements

A huge update brings a full BS 7671 cable sizing calculator, AI-powered paper certificate scanning, smart predictive text, and a redesigned EICR observations experience.

NEW: Circuit Designer - BS 7671 Cable Sizing Calculator

The Circuit Designer is a fully integrated BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 cable sizing tool built directly into iCertifi. No more switching between spreadsheets or third-party calculators – every calculation you need is now right inside the app, with results that save directly to your certificate.

Available to all iCertifi subscribers at no extra cost.

5-Step Calculation Wizard

The Circuit Designer walks you through every calculation in a logical, step-by-step process that mirrors the BS 7671 design methodology:

  • Step 1 – Supply: Define your supply characteristics and earthing arrangement
  • Step 2 – Load: Enter design current and demand details
  • Step 3 – Cable & Installation: Select cable type and installation method
  • Step 4 – Protection: Choose your overcurrent protective device
  • Step 5 – Results: View full calculation output and export to PDF

What the Calculator Covers

The Circuit Designer performs the full range of BS 7671 Appendix 4 calculations automatically:

  • Design current calculation (Ib)
  • Derating factor application – Ca (ambient temperature), Cg (grouping), Ci (thermal insulation), Cc (buried circuits)
  • Cable size selection from BS 7671 Appendix 4 tables
  • Voltage drop verification to BS 7671 Section 525
  • R1+R2 calculation for earth fault loop impedance
  • Zs verification against maximum permitted values
  • Adiabatic equation check for CPC sizing
  • Ring final circuit validation

Supports T&E, Singles, and SWA cable types with full Appendix 4 current-carrying capacity tables built in.

NEW: Paper Certificate Board Vision - Scan and Import Printed Schedules

Typing up test values from existing paper certificates is one of the most time-consuming parts of producing Electrical Certficates.

Point your camera at any printed or handwritten circuit schedule or use and imahe and iCertifi’s AI-powered OCR reads the circuit schedule and automatically populates your  DB. Whether you are working from an old paper EICR, a handwritten site record, or a previous contractor’s schedule, the data comes in ready to review – not retype.

Works with printed certificates, handwritten schedules PDF’s.

NEW: Smart Predictive Text

iCertifi now learns from the data you enter across your certificates. Smart predictive text suggests values and descriptions based on what you have previously entered, so repetitive fields fill themselves in as you type. The more you use iCertifi, the faster your certification becomes.

IMPROVED: EICR Observations - Redesigned from the Ground Up

The EICR observations screen has been completely redesigned. The new interface is faster to use, clearer to read, and better suited to the on-site conditions electricians and inspectors actually work in.

What’s changed:

  • Modern traffic light code buttons for C1, C2, C3, and FI classifications – tap to assign, instantly clear
  • Multi-photo evidence – attach up to 3 photos per observation with individual captions
  • Full-screen photo viewer with swipe navigation and pinch-to-zoom
  • Dark mode support for the circuit schedule
  • Improved iPad layout for observations and circuits
  • Updated observation colour scheme aligned with the traffic light coding system

Observation classifications updated: C2 now correctly applied to bathroom RCD requirements and RCD test button observations, in line with mandatory regulations.

IMPROVED: Bulk Sending

Bulk Export Of Electrical Certificates Is Now Available.

For contractors managing large volumes of certificates, this means less time sending certificates individually. Volumes of electrical certificates can be exported in a single session in a zip file.  Previously certificates had to be sent one at a time

Bug Fixes and BS 7671 Compliance Updates

This release also includes a number of fixes and compliance improvements:

  • Fixed a potential crash when generating PDFs for certificates with reordered circuits
  • Fixed Solar PV form issue
  • Fixed name not appearing in the EICR “Inspected and Tested By” field
  • Fixed a potential crash in custom quick fill
  • Fixed save issue with EV certificates on sync restore
  • Reduced file sizes for better on-device storage
  • Improved Zs lookup values for BS 1361 and BS 88-3 fuse tables
  • Updated EICR observation classifications to match mandatory regulations
