It's the end of the day and you want three answers: which jobs you haven't invoiced yet, who still owes you, and roughly what the VAT bill will be. Now you can ask ChatGPT.
Mint Books, the bookkeeping app that turns your iCertifi certificates into invoices, now connects to ChatGPT and Claude. Connect it once, then ask about your business in plain English. The answers come from your real figures in Mint Books, and the assistant can only read. It cannot send, change or delete anything.

Your certificates, in the conversation
If your iCertifi app is linked to Mint Books, every certificate you save lands in Mint Books ready to invoice. That means your assistant can see them too: ask what still needs invoicing and it lists each certificate with the customer, the property and the date, just as the Certificate Invoices page does. It reads. It never touches.
- You approve the connection yourself, on a Mint Books page.
- It sees only the business you approved, and only what your role in that business can see.
- It cannot create, send, change or delete anything, and it never submits anything to HMRC.
- Mint Books never sees your conversations. It only answers the questions your assistant asks it.
- You can disconnect at any time in Mint Books, under ChatGPT & Claude in the menu.
What you need
- A Mint Books plan or the trial. Connecting is included. Money owed and VAT answers need Mint Books Pro, as they do in the app.
- Any Claude plan, or a paid ChatGPT plan. A free Claude account can add one connector like this.
- For certificate questions, iCertifi linked to Mint Books.
Set it up in a couple of minutes
On a phone, Claude asks you to sign in on its website once, even if the Claude app is signed in. It's quicker on a computer. After that, Mint Books is in your Claude app too.
Claude opens with Mint Books already filled in. Press Continue, sign in to Mint Books and press Allow. Then, in a Claude chat, press + and Connectors, and switch Mint Books on.
ChatGPT needs a paid plan and a setting called developer mode, so it takes a few more steps for now. We are working on making it one tap too.
On the ChatGPT website, open Settings, then Security and login, and turn on Developer mode. Go to Plugins, press +, name it Mint Books, paste this address and create it:
